The Syrian Revolution Coordination Committee at Private Universities was born shortly after the Syrian revolution was ignited in the spring of 2011. It was established to keep track of and organize revolutionary activities held by anti-regime students at private universities.

The coordination committee’s primary interests lie in civil activities and movements, such as the documentation of the names of student martyrs and detainees. They also work to organize the representation of private university students in the revolution, bearing in mind the important role students play in a time of revolt.

The Syrian Revolution Coordination Committee at Private Universities is a branch of the Union of Free Syrian Students, which supervises and coordinates opposition activities at Syrian universities. The coordination is responsible for recording and uploading videos of student movements and protests. For example, on Nov. 1, 2011, a group of students conducted a report about revolutionary movements at the International University for Science & Technology, Yarmouk University, and the Arab International University.
