Omar Amiralay about Religious extremism

Omar Amiralay was one of the best Syrian documentary film directors. He had a very strong political message through his films and had a role to play in many political events. He died a little less than a month before the revolution in Syria started, yet his movies still stand today as an example of the socity and the political problems in Syria.

During this short youtube video, Amiralay answers a question about the religious extremism and how its reflected in films. He then answers a very smart about how the cinema can’t fix the society regulation. He goes into details explaining that the religious extremism is not something to be fixed through a film or a workshop; it is a result of dictatorship rules and regulations. "Democracy is the answer," he says, "when you open the door for the secularism to speak up and creates a dialogue in the society it will present the people and ideas, then in result those who are right will find their ways without any need for extremism." He concludes.
